Hey there, Requiply community! We're thrilled to announce our latest update - Requiply 1.1.1! This release brings something many of you have been asking for: booking buffer times. We've been listening to your feedback, and we're excited to deliver this feature that will make managing your rental business even smoother.

What's New in Version 1.1.1?

You told us you needed better ways to manage the time between bookings, and we heard you loud and clear! Whether you need time for cleaning, maintenance, delivery, or just a breather between customers, proper buffer time is essential for any rental business.

Your wish has been granted! Version 1.1.1 introduces organization-wide buffer time settings that apply to all your bookings, giving you three flexible options to ensure smoother operations and happier customers. When you create a new Requiply account, we'll automatically set your buffer to "Full Day" for both start and end dates to help you get started.

Three Flexible Buffer Time Options

1. Full Day Buffer

Full Day Buffer

Whole Day Blocking: Automatically reserves the entire day when a booking starts or ends
Simplified Logistics: Perfect for businesses that operate on a day-by-day basis
Clear Scheduling: Prevents multiple bookings from occurring on the same day
Default Setting: This is the default buffer applied to new Requiply accounts

For example, with a booking from 14:00 on May 7, 2025, to 14:00 on May 10, 2025:

  • Item unavailiable for whole May 7th (full day buffer set for start.)
  • Item unavailiable for whole May 10th (full day buffer set for end.)

Real-Life Use Cases:

  • A vacation rental property that needs a full day for thorough cleaning and maintenance after guests depart
  • An event venue that requires an entire day for setup before a wedding or corporate event
  • A boat rental company that needs a full day for comprehensive safety checks and preparation between different customers

2. Custom Buffer

Precise Time Control: Set specific buffer periods from 1 to 12 hours before or after reservations
Visibility Management: Buffer times appear as booked to customers, preventing overlapping reservations
Dual Application: Apply different buffer times to the start and end of bookings
Organization-Wide Setting: The buffer applies to all your bookings across your business

For example, with a booking from 14:00 on May 7, 2025, to 14:00 on May 10, 2025:

  • The item becomes unavailable exactly at 12:00 on May 7 (-2 hours from the start of the booking. 2 hours buffer set for start.)
  • The item becomes available exactly at 17:00 on May 10 (+3 hours after the end of the booking. 3 hours buffer set for end.)

Real-Life Use Cases:

  • A camera rental business needs 2 hours after each booking to check equipment, recharge batteries, and prepare for the next customer
  • A bouncy castle rental company requires 3 hours before each booking to deliver and set up the equipment at the venue
  • A luxury car rental service needs 4 hours between bookings for cleaning, maintenance checks, and refueling

If your custom buffer is bigger than availiable working hours of the day left, the whole day will be shown as unavailiable and the following day won't be affected by the buffer.


3. No Buffer

No Buffer

Back-to-Back Bookings: Items become immediately available as soon as a reservation ends
Maximum Item Utilization: Ideal for high-demand items that need minimal preparation
Time-Specific Availability: Tooltips show *Unavailable after 14:00* on start date and *Available after 14:00* on end date
Exact Time Management: Bookings work precisely to the minute with no padding time

For example, with a booking from 14:00 on May 7, 2025, to 14:00 on May 10, 2025:

  • The item becomes unavailable exactly at 14:00 on May 7 (the moment the booking starts)
  • The item becomes available exactly at 14:00 on May 10 (the moment the booking ends)

Real-Life Use Cases:

  • A bike-sharing service where users can immediately rent bicycles after they're returned
  • A self-service tool library where items require minimal inspection between users
  • A coworking space that allows meeting rooms to be booked consecutively without downtime
  • Public spaces or venues that can handle multiple bookings in rapid succession

How to Configure Buffer Times

Buffer Settings

Setting up buffer times in Requiply 1.1.1 is super easy:

Log in to your Requiply account → Go to Settings → In the "Date Settings" section, click on the "Buffer" option → You're now on the buffer configuration page!

Choose your preferred buffer type for both the start and end of bookings → For Custom Buffer, specify the number of hours (1-12) → Save your settings and they'll be instantly applied to both your internal and website datepickers.
